Over the past 9 months, we’ve seen wildlife roam free while people isolate to stay healthy. Whales have changed their migration patterns due to fewer ships, sea turtles have laid record eggs on beaches empty of humans, and wild monkeys have taken over city streets. These stories cause us to wonder: what if we could redesign our human environment to accommodate the animal world: what would it be like if animals could still roam free within human environments?

Your challenge is to design and build a space in Minecraft: Education Edition that supports a healthy environment for both humans and animals. Choose between designing a school, home, work or public space, and select a biome or habitat.

Extra Credit: Incorporate one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Entering is easy:

  1. Download this world template.

  2. Build your space

  3. Create a tour video

  4. Submit Your Video Here

Making and Submitting your Video

Once you have finished your build, take us on a tour! The video must be no longer than 2 minutes. Include a voice-over explaining:

  • The team's project, including how your space supports a healthy environment for both humans and animals

  • What the team learned as part of their involvement

  • Extra Point: Incorporate one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. If you did this, tell us about that in your video too!

Important Video Rules:

  • Do not include any images/video of yourself, just use your voice over the game footage.

  • Do not include any information that could be used to identify yourself (e.g. your full name, age, location, etc)

Tips:

  • The easiest way to record your video is to use the Windows Key + G to open the game bar, and press the record button from there (don't forget to allow voice recording!). But, you can use whatever method works best for you. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

  • Dr Pusey can trim your video if you don't know how. Just send it through.
